MUSIC

I’ve been playing the violin since 2002, and DJing since 2018. I enjoy giving back to my communities through music, and have worked in many different spaces and capacities as a DJ and community builder. Music is how I connect with people and is foundational to my work in community service. I also sing, and occasionally produce music. Check out my Soundcloud and Spotify to hear the sounds I like to mix and the songs that inspire me.

RESIDENCIES AND COMMUNITY INITIATIVES

resident dj + space maker, reprieve party

Reprieve is a sober dance party that doesn’t push the drug and alcohol-free life. It’s a nourishing space for people to play, without the need for drugs and alcohol. Our events feature talented DJs who care about the quality of our musical selections, above anything else. This is the kind of party where you can show up knowing nobody, and leave with a new friend, thanks to the positive energy that our spaces cultivate. All are welcome, whether you’re sober for just a night or a lifetime.

As a resident DJ and space maker, I am responsible for:

  • Providing a soundtrack during events (I share the decks with other resident and guest DJs)

  • Assisting with event curation

  • Assisting with community outreach and building by trying to bring new communities under Reprieve

  • Scouting venues that are value aligned

  • Providing creative guidance/direction when needed (with a focus on communications/narrative building both public facing and partnership facing)

Co-founder, Curator, resident dj, Haza

Haza is a dance party that showcases sounds of the Middle East (Southwest Asia), Africa, and their diasporas. During the pandemic, we developed Haza.fm as a radio show that started on Newtown Radio and now airs on Radio Flouka on the last Wednesday of each month from 2:30pm-4pm EST. The show is an expansion of our dance parties, highlighting talented guest DJs from our global community. You can listen to archives of the show below and follow us on Instagram to find out about our upcoming dance parties.

As a co-founder, co-host, and resident DJ, I am responsible for:

  • Curating guests from around the world for Haza.fm

  • Formatting Haza.fm

  • Providing music during in person events

  • Engaging audience via social media and in person events

  • Seeking out and working with collaborators: dancers, instrumentalists, and MCs

  • Ensuring that venues and spaces we work with are aligned with values and mission of Haza
